An evening ritual. After a busy day at work you just need to wash away stress, chaos, pressure. You look forward to a reconnection to and with yourself in a minimal, clean and warm environment. You look for something that can hold yourself and can absorb all the negative energies accumulated during the day. An healing and silent companion.

This is BAIA, the sophisticated and essential bathtub designed by Carlo Colombo for Antonio Lupi (antoniolupi.it). The oval shape of the tub reminds a warm and soft cradle where you can let go all the tension of your body, mind and soul. In this moment of self-connection the only thing you have to think about is the choice of your favorite essential oil, soap, body wash and the scent of your candle. BAIA is available at DSEGNARE.

Egypt has a remarkable history of artisanship’s timelessly products designed by local artists who shaped their crafts with devotion, passion, mastery and meticulous attention. With the advent of new technologies and the consequent change of economic and socio-cultural circumstances, many of the traditional techniques used in early times are at risk to vanish forever.

Karim Mekhtigian, Egyptian interior designer, art director and founder of Alchemy Design Studio in Cairo, is internationally well-known for his ability to blend past, present and future in his works. Having lived in Paris for 15 years he was able to give a new interpretation to traditional concepts and behavioral codes, designing art pieces that stand uniquely today.

He strongly believes in the importance of creating an Egyptian design community and as a founding member of the EDF (Egyptian Design Forum), Mekhtigian just launched Analogue, a brand that brings Egyptian craftsmanship and traditional artistry to contemporary shapes in order to introduce everyday products that revel in the past whilst looking to the future.

Analogue’s first collection 29 Cu uses local skills, techniques and materials to bring back the tactile and human dimension with its imperfections to life. The collection is a full range of trays, plates, cups and a hammer meshed together for a fully dynamic setting. Everyday objects are turned into copper, known as Man’s Eternal Metal for its versatility and durability. The products are meant to influence people’s daily lives; carrying codes from the past and pushing their way towards the future, designed to survive the test of time. Analogue’s 29 Cu collection will be soon available at DSEGNARE.
